Daily Face

Hello Sweet Peas,

I have a little bit of a different post today. One question I actually get asked a lot is what make-up I use on a daily basis, so I thought i’d give you little insight into the products I usually use for the day to day things and looks.

DSCF5202 DSCF5203 DSCF5204 DSCF5206 DSCF5207 DSCF5211

The products I use are one I use to usually create a natural looking look;

  • Big Easy Complexion Perfecter by Benefit – £27.50 – I absolutely love using this Cream as an alternative to foundation, it;s much lighter yet still gives your base a full and perfect coverage. However in drastic times when I cannot afford this little beauty or sometimes along side of it I love Rimmels BB cream – £9.50
  • Hide the Blemish concealer Rimmel – £3.99 –  I’ve used this concealer for so long now and as I usually get blemishes or spots upon my cheeks in works like a dream.
  • Stay Matte Compact Powder Rimmel – £ 3.99 – I think near enough everyone has come across this compact powder and it shall always stay up there up in my favorites. I think I must have purchased around 10 of these now… opps.
  • Bourjois Délice de Soleil Bronzing Powder – £8.99 – I love using this bronzer along with the compact powder, I feel they help even out my skin tone and give a nice subtle glow.
  • HOOLA Bronzing Powder by Benefit – £23.50 – Despite it’s price this my be my all time favorite bronzing powder, it’s absolutely wonderful for using across cheek bones and your forehead to create great complexion or sweep all over for a complete sun kissed glow.
  • Benefit Brow Zings Brow Shaping Kit- £19.50 – And here we have the biggest essential in my make up collection, the brow kit and my god I worship this brow kit. If you know me you’ll know that I literally carry it around everywhere with me and if I were to be stranded on island with only three possessions, this would be in the list… Trust me if you’re a brow lover, this is the kit for you.
  • The Estee Lauder Eye Pallet I use is actually one they don’t sell anymore however they do sell a new pallet called Pure Color Envy, which have a variety of different shades including nude ones very similar to the ones I use.
  • They’re Real by Benefit – £19.50 – I use this mascara nearly everyday and basically the fact it’s the UK’s number 1 best selling mascara speaks for itself.
  • Supercat Black Eyeliner Pen by Soap and Glory – £6.00- Finding a liquid liner that applied in the felt tip style took me ages to find, as after not long they all started to fade way too quickly however when i discovered this little beauty, I never looked back. It honestly create the most perfect black cat flick.
  • Eye Bright Pencil by Benefit – £15.50 – I’ve been using this eye brightening pencil for over a year now and I can confirm it’s truly a life saver. I use it out the inner and outer corners of my eyes in allowing it to brighten and give me that more wide awake effect.
  • Watt’s Up highlighter – £24.50 – Again a tad on the pricey side, yet for the past year now I’ve had the same one and it’s still going strong, and oh my I absolutely love it! This highlighter works perfectly on cheek and brow bones for highlighting the certain features you want in such a subtle and natural way.

So that’s it, on a day to day basis this is all I use. It does a vary slightly obviously depending on how I’m feeling (or the money in my bank…)

If you fancy anymore posts like this be sure to let me know,

A Week in Photos (3)

Hello Sweet Peas,

I missed last week! I do apologize, it’s actually been a busy few weeks so here’s a little insight into what I’ve been up to.

IMG_4494IMG_4342IMG_4495 IMG_4496 IMG_4479IMG_4469IMG_4484 IMG_4485IMG_4470 IMG_4474 IMG_4493 IMG_4489

 1. Dragon Fly Tea – Anyone who knows me is aware of my over obsessive love for tea, especially new wonderful flavored teas. I discovered the make Dragon Fly which I must add the peppermint green tea is wonderful and whats better than a tea with cute little messages?

2. Cold Mornings and Porridge – Yes, I’ve already purchased my first Christmas mug of the year (I couldn’t help myself) I mean just look how cute the penguin is, he was practically calling my name and of course the cold mornings have started creeping there way back in, so porridge is always the answer.

3. Happiness and Bunny ears – I think being able to let go of everything just for one night is the most important thing. To be able to stop and say ‘hold on a minute, this is my time’. I had a lovely night last weekend in Blackpool with Ellie, where we both just forgot about anything and enjoyed ourselves. Of course, I resorted back to being a kid when the only priority was buying flashing bunny ears.

4. Fabulous Trouser Life – River Island sales oh how I love you! Recently I’ve been a sucker for baggy, wonderfully printed trousers and my my when these were just £10, how could I say no?

5. Frozen Frantic- Yesterday me, Mumma and Ella all headed for a little afternoon out and popped into Matalan. I love Matalan for the odd bits and bobs and got a tad excited at all the new Christmas home ware section. Then making our way to the till I spotted this little number and absolutely loved it. I love popping my protein shakes into little cups like this, so it really was perfect. ~(And I love frozen… a tad too much)

6. Ginger Bread Latte Galore –  Yesterday being a little treat day I had to take a little trip to Costa and have a cheeky ginger bread latte, which Is the ultimate Christmas drink and my absolute favorite.

7. Halloween Mania- As you know Halloween is just in fact right around the corner and in our house hold we absolutely love it, and of course this year decided to go all out in Asda. I literally couldn’t resist the sparkly pumpkins and skull heads being the big girl that I am.

8. Skull Shot glasses – On our little Halloween Asda trip I cam across these little fellas Skull head shot glasses!! I mean how fab are they? You cannot deny.

9. Weight lifting Pumpkins – And of course Halloween can only mean Pumpkins and I can confirm we spent ages trying to choose the biggest and best pumpkins. After finally choosing we finally picked and me and me little muscles managed to carry him… wahey!

10. ‘Bring Murray’s Bum Back’ – Yes, this Extra Large Pick n’ Mix was most certainly allowed last night, lets call it a ‘Halloween Eve’ treat, as 1. it was a ‘little’ cheat night 2. I’ve been craving sweets for god knows how long 3. we are on a strong mission to bring Hollie’s bum back. So you cheeky cola bottles… go to my arse…

11. Cozy jumpers and boring Sundays- Cold weather is most certainly starting to consume me, which only results to my fingers and toes being left to freeze. I bought this jumper this week which I absolutely adore, going out my comfort zone slightly with the color but I strangely love it, plus it’s unbelievably comfy and warm. Bonus!

12. Keep going and Never stop – I have to admit the past four weeks have been incredibly hard for me, yet I’m still striving and still fighting. I want to keep going and shut out all the thoughts and feeling telling me that I can’t and I think this quote sums this up perfectly. I think it’s important to start accepting you’ll have set backs and failures, yet just because you do it isn’t the end. They only allow you to keep striving and going.

I hope you enjoyed these little set of piccys and I hope you have all had a fabulous week.

Hello Sweet Peas,

Gosh has a week really flown by already? I feel like time is going by way too quickly recently but hey here is a little bit in what I’ve been up to;

1. SHOES – Yes, I have come to the conclusion is is most certainly possible to fall in love with a pair of shoes because I ordered these beauties and couldn’t have been happier. I mean just look at them! So, I stated a new motto to my mum – “Shoes are better than humans, they never leave you,” hey, it’s pretty much true, haha.

2. Black Obsessions – I don’t think I’ll ever loose my love for black clothing, or the fact that winter is most certainly on it’s way and I despise the cold. I must add thought how much I love my knitted headband, It’s literally proved to be a life saver and I love it way too much (and works perfectly well on a bad hair day)

3. Details –  I love outfits that have the tiniest yet most effect of details, I think adding the simplest of things truly allows an outfit to transform and come together. I’m absolutely loving scarfs for layers at the moment also and on this day particular, I felt my outfit was simple yet satisfying.

4. Guinea Pig lovin’ – Here’s just two of the 7 Guinea pigs in our house, my sister’s Percy and my little Tiny Tim. I’ve spent most of the weekend cuddled up with the guinea pigs, and to be honest lately it’s my most favorite thing to do. Even if Tim is anything but like a Guinea pig and would rather climb up around my shoulders…

5. Tattoo Ideas- I plan to have two tattoos at Christmas, one being a little elephant in which I’ve wanted for so so long and the second I’ve been a little indecisive towards. I did however want something on the lines of recovery and Eating Disorders, and I absolutely love this. So I’ve decided I’d love something on the lines of this, either on my arm, upper back or under booby!

6.Cheat Night – Mmmm last night was cheat night and all week I’ve been craving cheese and crackers, so I brought Christmas early and caved in to a box of Jacob’s. Oh my. Along with way too many chocolate match makers and cinnamon popcorn but hey… it’s once a week right…

Hope you’ve all had fabulous week’s and now X Factors back with the live shows it’s most certainly Christmas countdown begun. Mwaha.

Simplicity

Flickering of eyes,

Palms led to palms,

A ‘good morning’ sleepy recited,

Skies full of wonders,

Clouds showing candyfloss traits,

Effortless fallen locks,

A sunlight seeping through,

Crisp in Summer’s losses,

Gains for the Autumn tones,

falling past your beloved scarf keeping in your warmth,

Smelling of loved cooking,

Apple crumble done best,

Wholeness from the heart,

Your lips against delicacy,

Strings played gently,

Fingertips upon curves,

Silence through reassured smiles,

White shirts as fresh as a clear blue sea,

buttons messily undone,

sliding off the silken shoulder you simmer upon,

Bed sheets we sink down into,

Smells of Christmas flooding the happiness,

Led to a falling path of enjoyments,

Toes between the sheets,

Comfort in a hug,

hugs in mugs,

Warmth from over-sized jumpers,

Crashing of waves,

Ears flooding of your most loved sounds,

The smell of you home after a time away,

Your words through care,

Your promises,

leaving me content,

the stars we see upon a dark, clear sky,

Pointing, hoping, dreaming

Wishes made,

little children still at heart.

Laughter that echos through the deepness of your belly,

Aching through happiness,

Your smile as you observe each inch,

hiding away from the world with each trust in me,

the falls we make,

the risks we take,

Simplicity surrounds me,

I find it in you

I hope you are all well,

#OOTD – Wear what you feel good in

Hello Sweet peas,

I feel amazing today and extremely positive, I feel like I’ve gotten that spring bag in my step a little. It’s such a wonderful feeling, despite the great summer of rain I can witness outside my window (freezing cold in August? Surely this isn’t right!)

I also feel fabby towards my outfit today, as I’ve purchased some beautiful new trousers from Asos which arrived yesterday. I absolutely love the style of my tapered pair from TopShop which I showed in my last OOTD, so finding these on Asos I literally couldn’t say no.

Aren’t they gorgeous? I’m in love once again!!!

I’ve always been very various about what I wear (check my personal style post for more on that!) in the fact, patterns such as this were a big no no no. Standing out? Being anything but simple or fitting in? Ah no chance however it’s the silliest thing on the planet. If you love the look of something and want to try it then do and I want you to feel bloody amazing in it. If you aren’t a shorts person because you ‘hate’ your legs but adore a pair of shorts you’ve recently seen, buy them. If you find a dress you love but dresses have always made you too feminine, buy it. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident.

I always thought patterns such as this would make me feel like a massive elephant in which I could never pull off, especially along with the ‘baggier’ style. Yet I’ve never felt so confident, I feel amazing and what’s better they’re extremely comfy? As good as pyjamas 😉

#OOTD – I’ve fallen in love with a pair of trousers

Hello Sweet Peas,

Once again to my pleasure I received a Top Shop order this morning, which obviously meant a fabulous day ahead.

I literally adore these pants, they’re extremely comfy and the pattern and colours are perfect. Even if I do feel slightly conned into thinking I’m wearing pyjamas, I think I shall be ordering plenty more of these 😉 for just £25 how could I not!

Personal style expresses you

Imagine a world where everyone wore the same clothes and bought the same items and expressed the same accessories. Oh what a boring old world we would live in. Liking the same, being the same and acting the same all sounds unbelievably dull to me. Sadly that is what half of the world follows by which is why I love the whole idea of personal style! Creating something entirely through your expression and imagination.

You can create and express your style and self in any way you wish through the development of your feelings, thoughts, aspirations, interests, past and future. It’s yours to alter and pick and mix in any  way you fancy and a brilliant way in expressing your individuality. Style is incredibly different to fashion I believe as style allows you to follow through and create yourself through your personality –

Style-is-very-Personal

Hello Sweet Peas,

I’ve wanted to talk about this topic for quite a while now, yet I’ve been stuck as in what to case it around – Do I give advice? inspiration? talk about style in general? talk about my style? I’ve kind of been stuck as where to take it. Yet today I am simply letting my fingers type away anything they please because I think it’s about time leaked out how much I adore expressing myself through the wonders of my style and wardrobe.

Style = individuality – I have always believed this. It’s like a journey of who you are and what you become over time and knowing you feel good and confident in what you wear. Personally over time I’ve realized what suits me and what doesn’t, what I feel happy and confident in and what I don’t

I think it’s also important to remember it isn’t about getting it right every single time, I mean I have days where I look back on a outfit and think “What the bloody hell were you thinking leaving the house like that Hollie?!” but that’s what makes it yours. You have to start by knowing you don’t need a certain look to look good and feel good, you have to look into what expresses you and what you feel like right at that moment in time.

‘Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.’ – Coco Chanel
‘Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.’ – Gianni Versace
Over time I like to believe I’ve developed and discovered my own personal style and use clothes as a way to show whom I am and boost confidence. If you look good, you feel good right?

20140806-022816-pm-52096670.jpg
20140806-022821-pm-52101030.jpg
These are a few of the outfits I’ve been loving lately.
You’ve probably noticed I’m one for plain a simple yet classy statement in which I can layer and add together in creating something more. I love my simple colors, of course the good old black in which you can match with absolutely anything and it make you look fabulous, it’s the ultimate safe color in my eyes. I’ve also been including white a lot and I love the fresh clash it has with black and along with grey. I feel like if you begin and outfit with either of these three colors you can add anything to it and create it as you wish. I love adding the odd bright color in there also, such as both of the wonderful shorts in which for me were very daring may I add but hey it’s about wearing what you want right?
I think over time that is what it is important to realize – if you like something, look good in it and want to wear it  then bloody god damn wear it and if you don’t like it but are wearing it to simply ‘fit in’ then I suggest you get rid right now. Not every item and style of clothing is going to suit you which is why you have to discover what makes you look most outstanding and comfortable and once you’ve done that I think you are good to go. Which Is why I think it’s also extra important every wardrobe had at least one super pair of jeans you feel your arse looks amazing in and simple tops and jumpers in which you can layer and and simple or bright statements to. Also a good winter coat and boots which you can pair with absolutely anything are major wardrobe essentials. Or maybe you’re one for 100 pair of killer heels and bright colored dresses whatever floats you boat.
developing-personal-style
Of course I think despite being along the journey or expressing who you are it’s healthy and exciting to have style icons and alter your own take on other peoples style. on the daunting bad days where everything you put on you makes your bum look to big or your hips too wide and your imagination is down the drain, sometimes it’s handy just to have to odd blog or insta outfit to have a gander at. Some of my biggest style inspirations are;
1. Marina Diamandis – You all know by now she is like my biggest inspiration and yes in the land of style she is also because I literally adore everything she wears and puts together. She’s extremely expressive, classy and quirky through her clothes, make up and hair.

2. Ellie Golding – I absolutely love the edgier style Ellie has, she wear a lot of blacks and white like myself and I feel everything she wears despite being simple really strikes out.

If I’m ever having a bad style, make up or hair day I only have to watch one of her videos or check her insta and it’s completely vanished. He style is beyond simple, sleek and classy and I adore it and her!
