Christmas Tag

Hello Sweet Peas,
Guess what? It’s just 16 days till Christmas!!!!!! (just thought I’d remind you..) The countdown to Christmas this year seems to be everywhere and everyone seems to be really full of Christmas spirit, I absolutely love it. I have a few blog posts planned as we get closer to Christmas and a little surprise as we get to the ’12 days before’ 😉 (and that’s all I’m spilling)
However I wanted to find some Christmassy blog post to please you with right now and trying to scan through the whole of my brain finding some inspiration has proven to be rather difficult. So I thought I’d find a little Christmas tag to get me even more excited for Christmas..

Christmas sparkle has begun….

Hello Sweet Pea’s!

It’s December! Finally! And yes, as you can most likely guess I’m already squealing in my seat at the fact Christmas day is now only 24 days away (even if I did start hitting the Christmas playlists at the end of September…)

DSCF5215 DSCF5218 DSCF5220 DSCF5221 DSCF5222 DSCF5232 DSCF5234 DSCF5256 DSCF5259 DSCF5263

And yes, in the old Murray house hold, the Christmas tree has sprung up and the festiveness has taken over our house, and I absolutely love it. I am simply not ashamed to say that when it comes to Christmas I most certainly turn into the world biggest child because yes the Disney Princess touch was my doing…

Yesterday was so lovely getting into the swing of things. Me and Mumma had the Christmas playlist happily blasting while we sang along, dancing around the front room. Once managing to finally build the tree and having to go on the search for new lights (I swear we loose them every year!!) we were able to resort to the decorations and decorate the tree, something we never fail to do together. I love looking at all the little memories over the years, even back to my very first Christmas decoration, it reminds me of how much I am actually loved and how lucky I am to have the family around me that I do.

And of course whats December without having a little chocolate every day?! No matter how old an advent calendar is most certainly needed and you really cannot beat good old Cadbury’s.

I cannot wait for all the Christmassy things that come alone with December – Big scarfs and cosy slippers, big blankets and Christmas films, mince pies and hot chocolate and of course lots of Christmas shopping. And well, my Birthday 😉

What are your favorite things about Christmas? I’d love to know.

Autumn Tag

Hello Sweet Peas,

Ah I was tagged by the lovely http://jacquelinemorby.co.uk/ to do this tag and I’m rather excited. It’s something a tad different ey!

  1) What’s your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks/ Costa/ Cafe Nero etc?

I’ve only just begun to get into the Costa vibes (I know late on the band wagon) At the moment I’ve been massively obsessed with the coffee coolers from Costa however they have been my ultimate summer drink and with the cold weather making it’s way, I’ve had to broaden my horizons. So of course I went for the most comforting sounding beverage and one I’ve been dying to try for ages – Gingerbread latte – and now I can quite wonderfully say this is my Christmas drink.

2) Accessories – What do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?

Scroll down my blog and you’ll soon realize I’m the biggest scarf lover, especially big fluffy, white ones.

3. Music – What’s your favorite music to listen to during Autumn?

I don’t in particular change my music taste due to season, I listen to pretty much anything and everything whenever I tend to feel like it. Although, I must say as the winter starts to call in… So does the Michel Buble Christmas album… (I have no shame!)

4. Perfume – What’s your favourite scent for this time of year?
I hate to admit but I’m awful with perfumes, I pick and choose them like they are flaming underwear. I can never really find a  sent I love and will stick too however one perfume I always ask for towards Christmas is ‘Angel’ by Thierry Mugler. I absolutely adore it.
5. Candles – What scents will you be burning this season?
Cinnamon, cinnamon, CINNAMON! Oh god, If you do happen to know me, you’ll be highly aware 1. I adore candles 2. cinnamon is my favourite sent and taste of all time. I certainly need a cinnamon candle spree! Mmmmmm!
6. What do you love most about Autumn?
The colours, the fashion and of course good old Halloween. It’s all so exciting and something about it creates a warming and comforting feeling. I despise the cold weather but adore boots, jumpers and massive coats. It’s excuse to look like a chubby eskimo right? And of course my beloved onesies, my reindeer onesie has already made a reappearance.
7. Favorite make-up look?
I’m pretty dull with makeup, I tend to stick to neutral and natural shades, unless I’m off somewhere fancy. However as summer is disheartening I’ve been using a few darker, warming browns on my eyelids which I’ve been enjoying. Also, I usually stick safe with my lips, It’s a massive no no NO to ever go dark, yet today I ventured in buying a red lipstick… Ow…
That’s it my chickens, so I hope you enjoyed, I actually really enjoyed doing this slightly different post. Let me know if you want to see a few more like this, as I’ve been thinking about a Q & A post.
I tag – http://angisliving.wordpress.com/ My lovely lil fighter and anyone else who would love to do this!
Autumns a fabby time, so make sure you treat yourself to lots of hot chocolates!

A New Start? You tell me..

Good morning, afternoon, or evening fellow reader whatever it may appear to be.

Before I start I would just like to warn you I am actually finding it incredibly hard to type this right now because my long Christmas claws have now developed into even longer Christmas claws – opppss. So, that’s my first goal for next year sorted! – DO NOT get nails this long again, it leads to a writers disaster, haha.

Yeah, Christmas has now come and passed 😦 I’m feeling slightly puzzled into where I am at lately also, I think this time of year does that very cleverly. It throws you, I don’t even know what day it is!

Anyway we know what this calls for, roll on New Year!!! As much as I love the Christmas spirit and festiveness, I always feel before you know it you are already transporting into the “New Year feel”. It’s just as wonderful, yet feels so different, don’t you think? But because of this we obviously experience every human being transforming into some inspirational alien claiming they’re going to “change” or “have a new start”. Then within 2 weeks of the dreary January they’re back to there old ways, like the whole New Year period hadn’t even been witnessed.

Another concept of the whole “New start/resolutions” business that humors me is that people feel the need to give up whatever that is destroying them or claim to approach positivity at this specific time. Like why not at the moment in which it is bothering you? Why not right now. Why the hell wait for the hand on the clock to hit 12 for your “New Start” – because really that’s the indication you really don’t want to change at all. Bizarre.

Despite my complete hatred to the whole idea of a new year being a new start – I have surprisingly set some “realistic goals” I’d at least like to attempt throughout the wonders of 2014.

– I’d like to blog more to begin with and plan it properly (sometimes ;-)) – because I do enjoy living in spontaneity because you seem to write from the heart however life being life causes you to fall behind when you rely on motivation.

-I’d like to focus on writing a hell of a lot more. The past few months have made me realize how much I’ve actually fallen behind.

-I want to do something massive that I completely fear, and I know this is completely contradicting everything I have just told you all as probably half of the population use this one. It’s open and has no setting goal, I know, however I do know something else. 2014 is going to hold a lot of changes, new experiences and things – so I already have a hint in that I am going to be completely some extremely fearful things.

So, here is to another year, who knows maybe I’ll change half way through the year, or make some great discovery. I vow to a new day, not a new year. If something bothers you – act now, because you don’t have the time to wait for 2015. Haha.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year..”

Okay, so if you know me personally you shall know that as soon as the 1st of December falls upon us, I almost burst with complete excitement (September this year….but shhh!) I have quite literally driven everyone completely bonkers this year, more so today as I have played Christmas songs since 9 am, I have no shame okay! 😉

I absolutely adore Christmas, I have no deny, as a Christmas baby myself. I think it’s such a cosy, calm, and loving time of year that I feel everyone looses touch of because of constant “Christmas stress”. See, I’m even slightly bonkers in the fact I enjoy “stressful Christmas shopping”, it excites me even more, opps.

I think what I do miss about Christmas the most though is the different type of joy and excitement you felt back when you were five years old. I mean what was ever better than dancing around your living room to “Santa Claus is coming to town” late on Christmas eve, before placing that yummy mince pie and carrot out for Santa and Rudolf. The amazing feeling of anticipation and nervousness in hoping you’re not awake when he arrives, while wondering if you really will meet Santa placing the presents you’ve been extra good for all year underneath your perfectly decorated Christmas tree. To wake on Christmas morning bouncing out of bed without any hesitation at all, rising early, almost shouting at your parents to join you. I always had to get my dad to go down the stars first of course just to check if “Santa really had been” and oh he always had… and so I would dart down the stairs faster than you could imagine.

I always enjoyed opening presents (who doesn’t? ;-)) but as I was doing so I always found that I was more excited towards heading to my nana’s for Christmas dinner. I’ve ALWAYS been a family person – I adore being around everyone and seeing everyone happy and full of joy and Christmas is that one time I get to experience it. It’s wonderful, don’t you think?

Over the past few years, our family Christmas hasn’t exactly been the best which saddens me really however this year I feel something in the air has changed. I am looking forward to Christmas again – and it is fantastic. It’s magical.

So, this year, I am going to go back to being that little kid because of course Santa is always going to be real 😉 I am actually so super excited, that I’ve even bought a little flashing Christmas tree for my room (which by the way is giving me quite the seizure, hahaha!)

My question is for you, what’s your favorite thing about Christmas? I’d love to know!

I’m going to go enjoy a lovely warm cuppa and a cosy read of a wonderful book I would high recommenced! “Feel the fear and do it anyway!” by Susan Jeffers. This book has helped me great amounts and fills you with such a wonderfully positive outlook!

So lets be positive it’s Christmas, time for mince pies and cakes 😉

Dear body.. – I’m sorry

Okay, so maybe I am cheating slightly, but shhh! Yesterday when finally having a sit down for my caffeine fix and a cheeky flick through cosmetic magazine, I came across something that touched me rather a lot. It was a section called “Dear Body..” , where 4 beautiful women had participated in writing a letter to their own body.

Okay, that probably sounds bizarre however it really inspired me – the first woman had been a marathon runner for the past 5 years and had trained, and had mentally and physically exhausted her body. The second was a lovely lady who discovered self admiration when she was pregnant. The third was a woman who’s insecurities has led her to gastric bands and self harm and the last woman was disabled and fights her way through life with only one arm. Each one of them brilliant wrote their letters on a discovery path into loving their bodies.

Now, for a while I have been battling and eating disorder and that isn’t something I tend to declare, so columns weight or body related in magazines are something I tend to avoid however I was highly inspired. So, here it goes…

Dear Body….

It is extremely clear that I am sorry. I am trying my hardest to make it up to you in any possible way I can – I hope one day I can.

If we were two different people, you’d surely hate me, and they say hate is a strong word. The sad thing is you have reason to hate me and I have no reason to hate you. You serve so many wonderful purposes. You allow me to survive each day, keeping me alive and breathing and what am I doing? only depriving you from these abilities.

I believe every single one of us as human beings are not grateful in the slightest towards the most simplest things in life – like a tiny ability but ever so large such as breathing. I take you for granted. You have enabled me to be a being in this world, day in and day out, and all I do is despise everything in which you are not rather than love what you are.

I remember the times in which I have felt content with myself, and you, and thought “Hey, I actually love you body ;-)” – because I truly believe that along the path of self hate and destruction we loose knowledge in allowing yourself to feel passionate towards your own body.

I mean common! What living right do I have to despise you in ways that I do? I have none. You have never harmed me or caused such cruelty. Only given me life.

So, looking positivity at the concept I would like to thank-you for allowing me to complete some wonders throughout my time on the planet.  Like the fact you allowed me to become a runner when I had be the most unhealthy idiot all of my life 😉 OR the ability to be a child, to run and jump and climb a bloody tree (IGNORING the fact I was always the girl who could never actually climb a tree…..)

I want to thank you in allowing me to dance and sing at Christmas parties, thank you for my ability to swim and to ride a bike, the ability to shop for 8 hours straight, the ability to travel and see beautiful places around the world.

Thank you for allowing me to see and to breathe. Thank you for allowing me to be me, because without you, I wouldn’t be me. I know the famous saying “it’s on the inside to what counts” – however without your wonderful abilities in keeping me striving, there would be no chance to discover the inside.

I’m trying to allow you in being yourself again, and I know it is hard right now, but we’ll strive through this because after all of these years can we shake hands?

Can we try to be friends.

All my love,

Hollie.

Blogging my life away (Once again…) –

I’m back.. finally!

Ah and it feels great to be writing and blogging my life away once again. I want to begin with the biggest (soppiest) apology known to man. I’m not usually one for leaving with no explanation, so I hear I am feeling extremely guilty. However I plan to turn my awful attempt at blogging into somewhat something to keep me on my toes (and to make up the fact I vanished for a month…)

I have a plan to complete you with my wonderful thoughts at least 5 times a week- aren’t you lucky! Okay so maybe five is pushing it, but you can’t blame a girl for trying.

On that note it’s Thursday, travel Thursday, I shall give you the inside scoop on what I have been up to.

Through the wonders of October obviously the weather has decided that dropping extremely quickly is it’s plan- I have failed to adjust. My family being my family decided to book a very (by very I mean just a day before) last minute holiday to Ibiza. It’s was unbelievably amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever been so full of adrenaline and relaxed at the same time in my life, and it’s quick decisions to get away to a place like that, that make me realize how much I want to travel.

ImageDespite absolutely loving letting go and living the life over there, the scenery was surprisingly to my complete satisfaction. I headed for a long walk along the bay one day, as sitting on my bum all day was causing my anxiety levels to raise to the roof – opps! I felt so content. Image

ImageAlong with that, The world is a beautiful place, I caught the last of a sunset. Finally- ImageThe holiday provided me with a sincere reload of positivity and the need to achieve everything I want in life. The world is a beautiful place, and as human because of so many cliche’s we forget to just stop for a second and find a quiet place, a peaceful place.

Anyway back to the dreaded cold now, and rain, and wind, and exams, and… life. Great. And don’t worry throughout my holiday, I wrote loads, so be expecting the full blow 😉

A positive note though, Christmas soon, I adore Christmas so be expecting lots of cosy winter stories and posts. Plus, a cheeky haul next week, shopping is called for!

Speak to you all soon,

♡Holl♡

Good-Bye Summer –

Hello Autumn!

The big, fluffy coats and the winter boots have soon decide it’s their time to make an appearance out of my wardrobe and slowly but surely tuck away the pretty summer shorts and sandals. However, I’m not looking forward to it one bit, the cold, and the snow isn’t something I’ll ever enjoy, apologies to all you winter lovers.

Now, if you are anything like me, you’ll agree that the cold, bitter weather isn’t something you’ll be jumping for joy for. Wow, that’s a tongue twister.

Anyhow, every single year I repeatedly find myself in complete and utter dread of the dark night’s drawing in and the freezing days taking all the blood from my fingers, so this year I decided it’s time to change. I’m actually going to attempt to have a positive outlook on the Autumn/Winter seasons in hope I can spread the positivity to all other grumpy sods like me. I’m going to give you a survival guide to “The Dreadful Cold Stupid Weather”…Wish me luck.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So,  I’ve made a list of my favourite things about Autumn and Winter and my favorite things in September so far, in hope they will show that this season may not be as bad after all.
1. Tea!
Tea of course is the main essential for winter (Other than of course hot chocolate..With marshmallows.. And lots of cream..Mmm) however, if you know me you’ll know how much of a health freak I am. So I have the perfect Autumn/Winter drinks to satisfy my needs 24/7, Twinings!
ImageI would most certainly recommend, if you haven’t tried these beauties, then you my friend are most certainly missing out! In fact go to the shop right now and buy them, now!
2. Candles
 Image
Winter + Candles = A very happy Hollie, with a dash of complete perfection. Winter and candles couldn’t bring me much more joy. The settlement in relaxing with your favourite book, Twinnings, and lots of pretty, gorgeous smelling candles just isn’t the same in summer, sorry!
3. Shopping
Nothing, and I mean nothing in the entire world make me more happy than shopping. To be precise, Christmas Shopping! (See, I’m not a complete baa-humbug ;-)) The buzz and joy I get from walking into a massive shopping center as the run up towards Christmas approaches is unbelievable. The massive, incredibly decorated Christmas Tree’s and the pretty, over sparkling lights to be seen from every corner. The small cafes packed from overwhelmed shoppers craving from a creamy hot chocolate topped with a thousand marshmallows, diets? What are they?! Everyone rushing around, Families, Couples, Excited Kiddies, Mothers, Fathers all enjoying the Christmas joy., or just stressed to hell but you get my point.. Christmas Shopping is like an addiction to me, and many others.
So recently, my shopping instincts have sparked up incredibly (Oh, yes Hollie, it’s cold, “New clothes, New clothes, NEW CLOTHES!”) And, of course, I gave in.
Black skinny jeans are of course an essential through winter for myself, as I kind of live in black a little too much.. So, I recently headed to river island and bought a lovely pair for only £30! And of course what’s winter without a new jumper, so I went extremely out my comfort zone and bought a bright peach jumper for only £25. And that was the first winter outfit in the bag, and obviously many, many more to come.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, when you’re sat there thinking the hibernating is the only option left to Winter, just remember you aren’t the only one…Haha. Actually remember that there are positives, and this year I really am going to try and embrace the “Wintery” weather. I hope.

Also, let me know your winter essentials I’m curious!

See you soon,

♡ Holl ♡
