Daily Face

Hello Sweet Peas,

I have a little bit of a different post today. One question I actually get asked a lot is what make-up I use on a daily basis, so I thought i’d give you little insight into the products I usually use for the day to day things and looks.

The products I use are one I use to usually create a natural looking look;

  • Big Easy Complexion Perfecter by Benefit – £27.50 – I absolutely love using this Cream as an alternative to foundation, it;s much lighter yet still gives your base a full and perfect coverage. However in drastic times when I cannot afford this little beauty or sometimes along side of it I love Rimmels BB cream – £9.50
  • Hide the Blemish concealer Rimmel – £3.99 –  I’ve used this concealer for so long now and as I usually get blemishes or spots upon my cheeks in works like a dream.
  • Stay Matte Compact Powder Rimmel – £ 3.99 – I think near enough everyone has come across this compact powder and it shall always stay up there up in my favorites. I think I must have purchased around 10 of these now… opps.
  • Bourjois Délice de Soleil Bronzing Powder – £8.99 – I love using this bronzer along with the compact powder, I feel they help even out my skin tone and give a nice subtle glow.
  • HOOLA Bronzing Powder by Benefit – £23.50 – Despite it’s price this my be my all time favorite bronzing powder, it’s absolutely wonderful for using across cheek bones and your forehead to create great complexion or sweep all over for a complete sun kissed glow.
  • Benefit Brow Zings Brow Shaping Kit- £19.50 – And here we have the biggest essential in my make up collection, the brow kit and my god I worship this brow kit. If you know me you’ll know that I literally carry it around everywhere with me and if I were to be stranded on island with only three possessions, this would be in the list… Trust me if you’re a brow lover, this is the kit for you.
  • The Estee Lauder Eye Pallet I use is actually one they don’t sell anymore however they do sell a new pallet called Pure Color Envy, which have a variety of different shades including nude ones very similar to the ones I use.
  • They’re Real by Benefit – £19.50 – I use this mascara nearly everyday and basically the fact it’s the UK’s number 1 best selling mascara speaks for itself.
  • Supercat Black Eyeliner Pen by Soap and Glory – £6.00- Finding a liquid liner that applied in the felt tip style took me ages to find, as after not long they all started to fade way too quickly however when i discovered this little beauty, I never looked back. It honestly create the most perfect black cat flick.
  • Eye Bright Pencil by Benefit – £15.50 – I’ve been using this eye brightening pencil for over a year now and I can confirm it’s truly a life saver. I use it out the inner and outer corners of my eyes in allowing it to brighten and give me that more wide awake effect.
  • Watt’s Up highlighter – £24.50 – Again a tad on the pricey side, yet for the past year now I’ve had the same one and it’s still going strong, and oh my I absolutely love it! This highlighter works perfectly on cheek and brow bones for highlighting the certain features you want in such a subtle and natural way.

So that’s it, on a day to day basis this is all I use. It does a vary slightly obviously depending on how I’m feeling (or the money in my bank…)

Autumn Tag

Hello Sweet Peas,

Ah I was tagged by the lovely http://jacquelinemorby.co.uk/ to do this tag and I’m rather excited. It’s something a tad different ey!

  1) What’s your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks/ Costa/ Cafe Nero etc?

I’ve only just begun to get into the Costa vibes (I know late on the band wagon) At the moment I’ve been massively obsessed with the coffee coolers from Costa however they have been my ultimate summer drink and with the cold weather making it’s way, I’ve had to broaden my horizons. So of course I went for the most comforting sounding beverage and one I’ve been dying to try for ages – Gingerbread latte – and now I can quite wonderfully say this is my Christmas drink.

2) Accessories – What do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?

Scroll down my blog and you’ll soon realize I’m the biggest scarf lover, especially big fluffy, white ones.

3. Music – What’s your favorite music to listen to during Autumn?

I don’t in particular change my music taste due to season, I listen to pretty much anything and everything whenever I tend to feel like it. Although, I must say as the winter starts to call in… So does the Michel Buble Christmas album… (I have no shame!)

4. Perfume – What’s your favourite scent for this time of year?
I hate to admit but I’m awful with perfumes, I pick and choose them like they are flaming underwear. I can never really find a  sent I love and will stick too however one perfume I always ask for towards Christmas is ‘Angel’ by Thierry Mugler. I absolutely adore it.
5. Candles – What scents will you be burning this season?
Cinnamon, cinnamon, CINNAMON! Oh god, If you do happen to know me, you’ll be highly aware 1. I adore candles 2. cinnamon is my favourite sent and taste of all time. I certainly need a cinnamon candle spree! Mmmmmm!
6. What do you love most about Autumn?
The colours, the fashion and of course good old Halloween. It’s all so exciting and something about it creates a warming and comforting feeling. I despise the cold weather but adore boots, jumpers and massive coats. It’s excuse to look like a chubby eskimo right? And of course my beloved onesies, my reindeer onesie has already made a reappearance.
7. Favorite make-up look?
I’m pretty dull with makeup, I tend to stick to neutral and natural shades, unless I’m off somewhere fancy. However as summer is disheartening I’ve been using a few darker, warming browns on my eyelids which I’ve been enjoying. Also, I usually stick safe with my lips, It’s a massive no no NO to ever go dark, yet today I ventured in buying a red lipstick… Ow…
That’s it my chickens, so I hope you enjoyed, I actually really enjoyed doing this slightly different post. Let me know if you want to see a few more like this, as I’ve been thinking about a Q & A post.
I tag – http://angisliving.wordpress.com/ My lovely lil fighter and anyone else who would love to do this!

The last of summer #OOTD and a slight change…

Hello Sweet Peas,

I hope you are all well and your days have been wonderful, mine was great thanks for asking.  It’s been rather jam packed would you believe, so now sitting down with my very much loved peppermint tea, Emmerdale and my little blog is 100% appreciated.

Firstly I had to run a few errands however I felt my outfit today was totally worth sharing with you all, PS. the sun was out this morning, I’m trying my best to hold onto summer! I recently bought this playsuit and absolutely fell in love with it, it fits perfectly and is brilliant for anytime of year. Winter with a pair of tights, cute boots and fluffy scarf? yes yes yes!

Playsuit – Topshop

Cardigan – River isalnd

Shoes – New Look

Ring – Silver.com

While popping out with my sister for a few of her birthday presents, I of course couldn’t resist a cheeky trip into next while she ventured the sports shop. When I go into next it’s always hit and miss, I either see a few bits I love of nothing at all however I must say at the moment their shoe and bag range is absolutely brilliant. I also find next extremely useful for any home wear (I’m secretly a massive sucker for that)

Taking in mind I said I wouldn’t spend anything but also taking in mind I really needed a new pair of boots, I of course went for the second persuasion and bought a new pair of boots… But hey they were too beautiful to resist and only £36, which personally I thought was rather decent. I also picked up a new room diffuser and the cutest scarf, perfect for pairing with some black skinny’s and the boots!

I also went for a little change today and yes in the hair department, after all my morning rushing around, I had a hair appointment booked for 1. Lately my hair has felt limp, under nourished and un styled and for someone who uses her hair as her pride and joy – this is extremely depressing. I found myself almost in tears the other night claiming to my mum how “down” it was making me feel, and that is sad it itself… haha. So, I’ve decided to mix it up completely and instead of my usual dark try out the old Ombre, and I’m in love. I feel like I’ve got my hair back again and what’s better than a hair dressers trip because hey my hair now smells amazing.

All in all today has been extremely successful and has left me feeling upbeat and positive! Some times giving yourself a little time and treating is well worth it.

Remember to treat yourself every day,

Personal style expresses you

Imagine a world where everyone wore the same clothes and bought the same items and expressed the same accessories. Oh what a boring old world we would live in. Liking the same, being the same and acting the same all sounds unbelievably dull to me. Sadly that is what half of the world follows by which is why I love the whole idea of personal style! Creating something entirely through your expression and imagination.

You can create and express your style and self in any way you wish through the development of your feelings, thoughts, aspirations, interests, past and future. It’s yours to alter and pick and mix in any  way you fancy and a brilliant way in expressing your individuality. Style is incredibly different to fashion I believe as style allows you to follow through and create yourself through your personality –

Style-is-very-Personal

Hello Sweet Peas,

I’ve wanted to talk about this topic for quite a while now, yet I’ve been stuck as in what to case it around – Do I give advice? inspiration? talk about style in general? talk about my style? I’ve kind of been stuck as where to take it. Yet today I am simply letting my fingers type away anything they please because I think it’s about time leaked out how much I adore expressing myself through the wonders of my style and wardrobe.

Style = individuality – I have always believed this. It’s like a journey of who you are and what you become over time and knowing you feel good and confident in what you wear. Personally over time I’ve realized what suits me and what doesn’t, what I feel happy and confident in and what I don’t

I think it’s also important to remember it isn’t about getting it right every single time, I mean I have days where I look back on a outfit and think “What the bloody hell were you thinking leaving the house like that Hollie?!” but that’s what makes it yours. You have to start by knowing you don’t need a certain look to look good and feel good, you have to look into what expresses you and what you feel like right at that moment in time.

‘Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.’ – Coco Chanel
‘Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.’ – Gianni Versace
Over time I like to believe I’ve developed and discovered my own personal style and use clothes as a way to show whom I am and boost confidence. If you look good, you feel good right?

These are a few of the outfits I’ve been loving lately.
You’ve probably noticed I’m one for plain a simple yet classy statement in which I can layer and add together in creating something more. I love my simple colors, of course the good old black in which you can match with absolutely anything and it make you look fabulous, it’s the ultimate safe color in my eyes. I’ve also been including white a lot and I love the fresh clash it has with black and along with grey. I feel like if you begin and outfit with either of these three colors you can add anything to it and create it as you wish. I love adding the odd bright color in there also, such as both of the wonderful shorts in which for me were very daring may I add but hey it’s about wearing what you want right?
I think over time that is what it is important to realize – if you like something, look good in it and want to wear it  then bloody god damn wear it and if you don’t like it but are wearing it to simply ‘fit in’ then I suggest you get rid right now. Not every item and style of clothing is going to suit you which is why you have to discover what makes you look most outstanding and comfortable and once you’ve done that I think you are good to go. Which Is why I think it’s also extra important every wardrobe had at least one super pair of jeans you feel your arse looks amazing in and simple tops and jumpers in which you can layer and and simple or bright statements to. Also a good winter coat and boots which you can pair with absolutely anything are major wardrobe essentials. Or maybe you’re one for 100 pair of killer heels and bright colored dresses whatever floats you boat.

Of course I think despite being along the journey or expressing who you are it’s healthy and exciting to have style icons and alter your own take on other peoples style. on the daunting bad days where everything you put on you makes your bum look to big or your hips too wide and your imagination is down the drain, sometimes it’s handy just to have to odd blog or insta outfit to have a gander at. Some of my biggest style inspirations are;
1. Marina Diamandis – You all know by now she is like my biggest inspiration and yes in the land of style she is also because I literally adore everything she wears and puts together. She’s extremely expressive, classy and quirky through her clothes, make up and hair.

2. Ellie Golding – I absolutely love the edgier style Ellie has, she wear a lot of blacks and white like myself and I feel everything she wears despite being simple really strikes out.

And lastly I want to mention one of my favorite YouTubers/instagram/fashion blogger – TheBeautyCrush
If I’m ever having a bad style, make up or hair day I only have to watch one of her videos or check her insta and it’s completely vanished. He style is beyond simple, sleek and classy and I adore it and her!

Bumble and Bumble Hair Products

20140806-114208-am-42128327.jpg

20140806-114207-am-42127020.jpg

Hello Sweet Peas,

I want to just quickly rave (Is that still the right word to use?) about these two amazing products I’ve been using for a good while now.

I have no shame in stating that my hair is by means my pride and joy, I’ve always been known for the girl with long hair and it’s never been any different and that’s forgetting the time I crazily decided to go with the chop… never ever again! This quite clearly means though the condition in which I keep it in is vital however recently I’ve found my ends are weaker, dry and thinner, pretty much resembling rats tails rather than Rapunzel locks (Hey we all know I aspire to be a Disney Princess… Shush!)

So while trying to discover some new products in helping my hair back on it’s tracks I discovered Bumble and Bumble which are a company who produce great and wonderful hair products. They specialize in helping and treating for many different varieties of hair. Personally any product stating ‘Volume’ or ‘Thickening’ scream out for me to pick it up and I love anything that will give my hair that extra texture and umfff! So of course I went straight for the Bumble and Bumble ‘Thickening’ products and I can quite frankly say they work wonders on my locks.

I firstly apply the thickening texture creme onto towel dried and slightly damp hair scrunching and rubbing it into my hair from the roots to tips. Then spray in the hairspray into my roots before giving it another little ruffle and scrunch. It’s always best done on damp hair as they work on your hair as it dries, giving it more volume and texture. I love the festival, beach, ‘done but undone’ look that flows through many different hair styles and out of all the products and salt sprays I’ve continuously tried I can honestly say these two products used together out do everything!

If you’ve used any Bumble and Bumble products let me know what other ranges are great to try?
